BRIDGEPORT – This morning, Mayor Ganim announced that he has selected former Capt. Roderick Porter to be Bridgeport’s next Chief of Police.

At the community forums, Chief Porter presented a compelling vision for the Bridgeport Police Department built on transparency and community engagement. He has the leadership skills necessary to implement community policing, reduce youth gun violence, root out corruption, and instill transparency and trust in the department.

We look forward to working with Chief Porter on addressing public safety through a public health lens, supporting anti-racism training for all officers, and engaging the community in a meaningful way.

Congratulations to Chief Porter and his family. It is a good day for leadership in our city!
