“During the 2021 primary elections, the Unrig Bridgeport Coalition engaged with thousands of Bridgeport voters about the issues that matter to them and our collective vision for positive change. We hit the streets, knocked doors, made phone calls, and got out the vote for our endorsed slate of candidates who pledged to work on The People’s Platform. We are proud to stand with this diverse group of candidates who share our commitment to fixing Bridgeport’s broken democracy, and to building a more just, equitable, and livable city for all.

Now the voters have spoken, and their message is loud and clear: Bridgeporters want a city government that is free from systemic corruption, is focused on policy, and provides them with the high-quality city services they need and deserve. The primary election victories of Unrig Bridgeport’s endorsed slate of city council candidates — Aikeem Boyd, Jorge Cruz, Tyler Mack, Aidee Nieves, and Maria Valle — are a critical step towards ensuring that the City of Bridgeport has the elected leadership in place to help make this shared vision a reality, and we congratulate all of them on their impressive victories.

We also congratulate city council candidate Dasha Spell and board of education candidate Joseph Sokolovic on their hard-fought primary election campaigns, and we look forward to continuing to support them in their general election efforts on the Working Families Party line.

As we now turn our focus to the general election, the Unrig Bridgeport Coalition looks forward to continuing to engage with voters everyday between now and November 2nd about the important issues facing our city, and to electing this exciting slate of candidates committed to making The People’s Platform a reality.”
