#BRIDGEPORT – On Friday at 3:00pm before the holiday weekend, the City put out a press release announcing 2 community forums (and a survey) to hear from the public about the new police chief search. It is completely disrespectful to give Bridgeport residents less than 5 days notice to make our voices heard in this process.

This reeks of the same tactics Mayor Ganim’s administration used in 2018 – when our calls for transparency, high standards, and meaningful community engagement were met with indignation, stall tactics and silence at every turn.

We will show up to these community forums. And we will be clear that the work of the new Bridgeport Chief of Police is the same as it was in 2018 – to effectively transform the department’s culture and address the deeply-rooted racism, abuse, corruption, and misconduct.

  • Forum #1: Thursday, June 2nd at 6:00pm at Central High School
  • Forum #2: Friday, June 3rd at 1:00pm at Mertens Theater, Paier College (formerly University of Bridgeport)
